Hurricane Sandy Relief Fundraising Event with Celebrity Chef Debbie Lee at miss Korea BBQ was featured in NY1. We genuinely appreciate all guests who made contributions to the event. 100% of the proceeds will directly go to Food Bank NYC.

"A Korean restaurant is throwing two charity dinners to raise money for Hurricane Sandy victims struggling to put food on the table. Miss Korea BBQ of Manhattan will give the proceeds from Tuesday and Wednesday night's dinners to the New York Food Bank. Celebrity chef Debbie Lee is designing the seven-course meal, inspired by dishes once eaten by Korean royalty.

Lee said she's seen a great need for help and wanted to do something about it.

"It really changed me a lot, and it actually had me find a huge respect for the East Coast, the way everyone came together, the community alliance, and I just didn't feel right without cooking and doing something for a cause," she said.

"Some people, they lost their homes, and some people, they lost their families, so this time we have fundraising, and proceeds, everything, 100 percent, we wanted to help them," said Sophia Lee, the owner of miss Korea BBQ.

Anyone interested can schedule a reservation for Wednesday night's dinner at misskoreabbq.com. Tickets are $100, with all proceeds going to the New York Food Bank. Residents can also donate to the New York Food Bank directly by visiting foodbanknyc.org."

President Obama's Favorite Korean Food? Bulgogi!

President Barack Obama's Favorite Korean Food? Bulgogi!

President Barack Obama’s favorite Korean food is said to be Bulgogi which he enjoyed it very much in Seoul, South Korea, where 2010 G-20 summit was held. During the luncheon, Obama showed how comfortable he was with Korean chopsticks and repeatedly complimented Korean dishes.

When he mentioned the concern on weight gaining from various Asian delicacies he had been enjoying throughout the trip of summits in China, Japan and now in Korea, President Lee assured him that Korean dishes are LOW in calories and non-fattening.

FYI, here is what two leaders had.

Main Course:

Susam-haemul-gyeojachae (seafood and ginseng served in mustard sauce), Bulgogi, Barbecued beef, Bibimbap, Bukeo dufu tang (tofu soup)

Side dishes (Banchan):

Kimchi, Mulkimchi (water kimchi), Assorted Spinach, Tangpyungchae (seasoned herb with mung bean starch jelly), Jangjorim (beef brisket marinated and pickled in sweet soy sauce and ginger), Dashima-toegak (fried kelp)

For its unique and authentic flavor, Bulgogi was the most popular Korean dish for many international quests.

At miss Korea, we serve our proud signature Bulgogi with top quality prime Angus beef marinated with our special home made sauce.

Taste it for yourself that the top leaders at summit thumbed up, here at miss Korea BBQ restaurant in New York City!

Join us for Hurricane Sandy Relief Donation

Donation for Sandy Relief at miss Korea BBQ.
Hurricane Sandy that hit NYC area on October 29th left the worst devastation in the history; over 50 death toll, nearly 40,000 people displaced in New York, and 1.5 million accounts are without power under this cold weather. The recovery will be a long term process, and with miss Korea BBQ, let's rebuild our hopes and future.

We will donate our 10% OFF Gift Certificates to guests who purchase Korean traditional lucky bags for $5 and up per each.

$5 can feed a person with two weeks of lunch and 100% profits will go to Occupy Sandy Relief NYC. We will also add contributions to your donations. Your additional donation is gratefully appreciated.

Condolence Message to Hurricane Sandy Victims

It's heartbreaking to hear that Hurricane Sandy, which slammed the East coast at the end of October, 2012, took so many lives and properties. Although it's gone now, it left so much damage that many people are still suffering without power and heat. We pray that everyone would recover quickly and would be able to turn this adversity into a new opportunity. Our prayers are with you all.

God bless you.

miss Korea BBQ has been included in Zagat 2013 New York City Restaurants guide! Our recognition comes from regular customers just like you. We genuinely appreciate your support!

Zagat says…

“OK, “the name is odd,” but the food is “delicious” at this “busy” Korean BBQ Specialist; its Zen-like quarters are “lovely” and “spacious compared to others” in K-town, and the prices are “competitive,” so no surprise it’s “always packed.”

“Let’s mix Soju and Beer, let’s mix Beer and Liquor, hell yeah Soju only is fine too! …”

Koreans call it ‘SoMac‘ when people mix Soju and Beer, and it’s popular to drink it with deliciously grilled Korean BBQ like Samgyupsal or Kalbi.
